Free Workshop & Zine Launch: Making Gigs More Accessible
Description
In celebration of the recently released zine "Open Mic! Aotearoa Live Music Access Guide" we're thrilled to welcome Dr Jesse Austin-Stewart, Sam Morgan, and Dr Catherine Hoad to Darkroom for a free workshop!
Tues Nov 10th
Join us at 7pm for free snacks!
Workshop starts 7:30pm
The workshop is about what we can do as individuals, venues, promoters, gig-goers, and musicians to help make gigs more accessible for Tāngata Whaikaha Māori, Whānau Hauā, d/Deaf and disabled performers, crew, and audiences.
Jesse, Sam and Catherine will be sharing their newly released resource "Open Mic!" and talking us through how it can be used, with community kōrero about where we see barriers to access, what some short and longer term solutions could be, and how we can collectively take action towards a more accessible music sector.
This event is free to attend and snacks will be provided! Please RSVP via this link to reserve your spot at the workshop:
Please note Darkroom is R18, access is via 4 stairs to the front doors, and we also do not have off street parking.
