Obtaining NRCS Funding for Small Farms & Landowners

Event description

Have you heard about Natural Resources Conservation Services (NRCS)? Through voluntary conservation programs, NRCS helps producers, growers, and landowners protect and conserve natural resources on private lands throughout the United States.

One of the most popular programs for small farms and other growers is the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP). EQIP offers technical and financial assistance for working lands, including field crops, specialty crops, organics, confined livestock and grazing, and non-industrial private forest land. One of the most popular practices offered by EQIP for small-scale, diversified growers is the high tunnel program. Still, there are many more, including composting facilities, microirrigation, low tunnels, cover crops, and mulching.

Get help understanding eligibility and identify resource concerns and conservation practices that could qualify your land for NRCS assistance during this in-person session with Madison County NRCS District Conservationist Larencia Williams.

During the meeting, we will learn about the NRCS programs and what happens when you enter the NRCS office. You will also have time to connect with like-minded growers and landowners from the area. All this information will prepare you for the EQIP application deadline of December 6th, 2024.

Do you want to learn more, but don't live in Madison Co? That's okay! You don't need to live in Madison Co to attend this meeting. Anyone is welcome to attend, regardless of their residency. Light snacks and refreshments will be offered to attendees.

The location is currently TBD. Meeting space is being secured. Once finalized, attendees will be notified.

The USDA-NRCS is an equal opportunity provider, employer, and lender.

If you need accommodations to attend this training, please submit a request at least one week before the event to Terri Theisen (ttheisen@urbansoilhealth.org).
