The Event
Chuck on your best hi-vis formalwear, because for one night only, Tradie Cards is throwing a comedy night.
The ACE Comedy Night Fundraiser is a night of stand-up and musical comedy from the comedic minds behind Tradie Cards. We will be celebrating tradie culture, Western Sydney, and the national art of cracking reprehensible jokes to ward off the Sunday scaries. Six comedians, one stage, two hours (give or take) and you're home on the couch by nine, because we know you've probably got work tomorrow.
It all takes place at the most ace place in Western Sydney, the Arts & Cultural Exchange (ACE!).
Doors are at 6PM. Show starts at 6:30PM.
There will be a meat tray raffle on the night as well.
What is Tradie Cards?
Tradie Cards is an action-comedy web series set in Western Sydney. Eight episodes, eleven minutes each. It is currently in development with Screen NSW.
A day labourer creates a hit card game based on his tradie coworkers, but when all of Western Sydney signs up to a tournament that will decide who rightfully owns the game, can he protect his creation, his job, and his mates from the fallout?
Tradie Cards will be shot in two distinct styles. When the characters are going about their adventures, it will be stylistically similar to other single camera scripted comedy series. These sections of the show are still going to be goofy and comedic, but intrinsically mired in realism. When the characters are playing the game, the style will shift dramatically. Think Saturday morning cartoons like Yu-Gi-Oh! crossed with Scott Pilgrim vs The World, dropped onto a Western Sydney worksite. Costumes, performances, and dialogue delivery will become more over the top, colours will become more saturated, and characters will be seen as more idealised versions of themselves in these sequences (e.g a character that is balding might have a flowing head of golden locks).
Where Your Money Goes
Every dollar of profit from the night will go towards the series. This means that your ticket does a few things:
It gives us seed money to shoot the series
It gives us a chance to prove to you (our beloved audience) that we can be funny (perhaps incredibly so)
It shows funding bodies like Screen NSW and Screen Australia that there is, in fact, an audience for a show like this
Most importantly - it gives you, the most beautiful prospective ticket-buyer there has ever been, a very fun night out!
Lineup
Marty Bright
Marty Bright is the founder, curator and resident host of Blue Mountains Comedy events. He has performed across the globe as far and wide as USA, Canada, NZ, Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia including shows at Sydney and Melbourne Comedy Festivals. Marty will be the night's MC.
Esky Escandor
Esky Escandor is a Western Sydney-based stand-up comedian, writer, and youth worker. A RAW Comedy NSW State Finalist and NSW Youth Worker of the Year, his comedy draws on his experiences working with young people, growing up in Western Sydney, and navigating Filipino-Australian identity. He has performed at the Edinburgh Fringe, Adelaide Fringe, Sydney Comedy Festival and Melbourne International Comedy Festival. Beyond the stage, his work has been featured at SXSW Sydney, the Sydney Opera House, ABC's Gruen, and Netflix's OneFour: Against All Odds.
Laura Hughes
Laura Hughes is a comedian, writer and actor. She spent 8 years in LA working and honing her unique style of comedy. You may have seen Laura in At Home Alone Together (ABC), 8MMM Aboriginal Radio (ABC), Open Slather (Foxtel) and Legally Brown (SBS). Most recently, Laura has written on Gruen (ABC) and two shows that will air in 2026; Urzila and Class Clowns (ABC). Laura is known for creating original characters, sharp comedic dialogue and concept-driven content. Subjectively speaking, she is very funny.
Ally Morgan
Labelled “a younger Tim Minchin” by the Sydney Morning Herald, Ally Morgan is an award-winning musical comedian, writer and performer whose work spans stage and screen - earning her an AACTA Award nomination along the way!
Tim Grubisic
Tim Grubisic is a filmmaker, writer and comedian from Western Sydney. He's written and directed award winning comedy shorts that have screened internationally, and his work has been exhibited at places like SXSW Sydney and The Powerhouse Musuem. He has worked extensively with landmark social enterprise Bus Stop Films, has convinced Australian entertainment legends such as David Collins and Bruce Spence to appear in his work, and he's also the creator of Tradie Cards, the comedy series in development with Screen NSW that this entire evening exists to fund.
Luke Antoun
Luke Antoun is a comedian, filmmaker, and the founder of his own trivia company, 8 Ball Trivia. Between comedy and trivia gigs he is also writing a TV show, which means he gets paid both to ask the questions and to be the punchline. Diversify, people.
