ACE for Coursework Success: Editing your own work

ACE for Coursework Success is free to all Adelaide University students by coursework seeking to practise academic skills and strategies to help improve their comprehension and succeed in assignments.

This workshop focuses on interpreting and responding to feedback on writing assignments from lecturers and tutors. It helps students to recognise different types of errors in order to equip them with the skills to edit and improve their writing in future assignments.

It covers:

• understanding academic writing conventions and assignment expectations

• brainstorming common errors in assignments 

• analysing different kinds of errors: structural, grammatical, and punctuation errors

• recognising how to correct and improve other errors in writing, such as logical flow, appropriacy of tone, language and style, use of evidence and relevance of information

• interpreting and responding to assignment feedback from lecturers and tutors

• putting editing skills into practice to improve a piece of writing
