ACID SPRINGFIELD: LIVE SPATIAL SOUNDSCAPE LAUNCH

Join Acid Springfield for a live in-store performance of dubbed-out ambient downtempo tracks from across their discography, including the newly released Primitive Landscapes. Following the set is the launch of the evolving, interactive soundscape composed specifically for our space.

This evolving soundscape composed for our space is a combination of Fourth World electronica tuned to the Schumann Resonances (Earth’s low-frequency hum), localised field recordings, and synthesised subterranean sounds.

Through a custom coded Max/MSP/Jitter patch, the soundtrack constantly shifts and changes concurrently with the outside temperature of Brunswick Street, and in response to human movement inside our space tracked through our CCTV cameras. The result is a living score that morphs between serene synth washes and a swarming petri dish of sonic microbes depending on environmental conditions.

By treating the space as a reactive ecosystem, the piece playfully prompts visitors to more closely consider our sonic surroundings and imprint on local ecologies.
