While a traditional "Welcome to Country" is carried out by an Aboriginal person, an "Acknowledgement of Country" can be undertaken by non-Aboriginal people. Its purpose is to publicly recognise the local Aboriginal people as the Traditional Owner and Custodians of the land on which you are meeting.

At Ochre Dawn, we always recommend that you learn how to recite the "Acknowledgement of Country" in your own words so that it sounds sincere, and given our passion for the preservation of languages, we also love hearing people speak in the local language. Now that shows respect!
