The winner of this slam goes on to the Opera House to the National Final of the Australian Poetry Slam competition.

It's a big deal and if you win there, well, your life might change forever with an international tour, book deal, and adoring fans worshiping you as a poetic God.
Potential for 20 Performers, 2 rounds, punters welcome but warned - some people stepping on stage will be pros!
A good time for an audience member, comes around once a year, always a night to remember

The big one is keep your poem to 2 minutes - otherwise you will LOSE POINTS.
Timer begins at your first word, so leave out any introductions.
Top 5 from first round go through to the final.
There are two rounds on the night, prepare two poems.

For those new to our community, a slam looks like …

🎤 A silly and sometimes chaotic, self-depricating-for-your-enjoyment host.

🎤 A round of open mic performances who get scored by "expert judges"
  who we *randomly* select from the audience,
  with a winner announced at the end of the night,
  who takes home a modest prize.

🎤 A lot of feelings, it's a privilege to hear someone share vulnerably.
You might find your story in theirs.

Canberra Slam exists for the sharing and listening to of human stories.

Easy walking distance from bus and tram, fully accessible entry and facilities.

It's a bit of a living nightmare trying to get to the venue at the moment with construction everywhere,
so allow more time especially if you're driving in!
