Victoria Madden's Sweet Potato Films (The Kettering Incident, The Gloaming) presents a unique experience in Launceston, Tasmania - August 26 and 27
Develop your skills working on camera with award-winning director Sian Davies (The Gloaming, Black Snow, The Twelve, Wentworth).
In this upcoming acting intensive, work on scripts for film and tv, fine-tune your preparation and master the camera.
This Workshop is open to participant actors and auditors (observers).
Develop your creative expression while remaining open to the collaborative process of working with other performers and directors and discover a new way to analyse scripts.
There is a limit of 12 actor participants to facilitate the best training outcomes for actors and auditors.
WHAT YOU’LL LEARN
- Acting and camera techniques for film and tv sets, in both drama and comedy.
- Learn to ask the right questions of directors and casting directors.
- Develop efficient and effective ways to "unlock" scripts.
- An approach to scene analysis that balances the intellectual with the emotionally connected.
WHAT YOU’LL TAKE AWAY
- This is a two-day Workshop with the intention of preparing, filming and editing a scene that students will retain for their personal and professional use.
COST
Actors $295 for two days - *In order to get the most out of the experience, participants should be available for both days.
Auditors $75 for both days - *Come for one day or both days.

Sian Davies is an award-winning director with a passion for performance and cinematic filmmaking. Sian’s credits include award-winning hit shows The Gloaming, Black Snow, The Twelve, Spreadsheet, Wentworth and Offspring to name a few. Watch some of Sian’s directing highlights. Sian is an accomplished director and writer of television, film and commercials. She won two Australian Directors' Guild Awards in 2022 and has received numerous nominations. She has also written and directed several short films which have enjoyed extensive festival play worldwide.
