Event description

Work with screen and stage actor Fiona Choi (The Family Law, Mustangs FC, Golden Shields, Torch the Place, Laurinda) as she takes you through the fundamentals of acting for theatre. 

Begin with understanding actor warm up and training, learn about making character choices, be introduced to script analysis and translating ideas from a text into action. In these fun practical sessions, you will begin to delve into the basics of creating your own performance with the acting techniques you learn. 

Whether you want to build confidence, meet new friends, or be introduced to a life-long passion for the arts, these workshops are for you! 

No experience is necessary – this workshop is open to anyone regardless of skill level. 

Each workshop builds on the previous – attendance at all four workshops is encouraged.

A little bit about FIONA CHOI 

In 2023 Fiona filmed STAN original series Population 11 & ABC’s White Fever, starred in The Chaser musical-documentary Australian Epic and Co-Hosted the 40th Green Room Awards.

A graduate of WAAPA, Fiona is well-known to Melbourne theatre-goers for roles in Seventeen, Laurinda, Torch The Place & Golden Shield (MTC). Other theatre: Single Asian Female (STCofSA) Dragon Lady (AdCabFest) Into The Woods (WatchThis) and original Australian Companies of RENT & Mamma Mia!

Fiona is best-known for playing Jenny in Benjamin Law’s award-winning SBS comedy The Family Lawreceiving an AACTA nomination (Best Performance in Television Comedy) & 3 Equity Ensemble Awards.

In New York, Fiona originated numerous Off-B’way roles and appeared onscreen in Homeland, Law & Order, Person Of Interest, Unforgettable, The Newsroom & New Year’s Eve.

Australian television highlights include Wentworth, Utopia, Jones Family Christmas, The Letdown, True Story, Mustangs & Working Dog’s Visit Vic campaign.
