🌿 ACTIVATE GREAT SOUTHERN 2024 - ROCKY'S RETREAT - TAKALARUP 🌿

PLANT HARD !! DANCE HARD !!

Activate Tree Planting is pumped to invite you to our second Great Southern Tree Planting Festival at Kaysanne and Claytons gorgeous conservation block at the foothills of the stunning, culturally significant, biodiverse Porongorup (Borongur) Range, Menang Boodja.

This will be a wonderful weekend of tree planting, music, dancing, tasty food (all food is provided) and connection. We have 6,000 seedlings (+tree guards) awaiting to be re-connected to the ground and we call on our friends to come and plant them with us. There will be about 90 of us all up this yr!

Camping, food, music and festivities will all be onsite at the property and the gorgeous Kalgan River is a short stroll away. Arrive on Friday (arrive anytime between 3-6pm).

Last years planting at Goodies was a GS pilot project (update: seedlings are thriving), and due to it's success and the timely request from Kaysanne and Clayton, we host this event with love, and a hope that we can continue to run this entirely volunteer run operation into the future with you all by our side.

🌿 𝙋𝙇𝘼𝙉𝙏𝙄𝙉𝙂 𝘼 𝙁𝙊𝙍𝙀𝙎𝙏 🌿

We will be planting out 7acres of the 28acre property with a mixture of biodiverse endemic species. This proposed planting project will provide habitat for threatened wildlife and serve as an important corridor for wildlife traversing between nearby nature reserves and the Kalgan River.

Saturday and Sunday will be PLANTING DAYS - all groovers in the paddock - all hands on tools - planting tools provided. Sunday closing Ceremony will be around 2pm.

If there are any/ many seedlings or tree guards remaining (we don't expect there will be), we'd appreciate some people to stay and help plant them with us on the Sunday arvo too.

🌿 𝙒𝙀 𝙒𝙄𝙇𝙇 𝘽𝙀 𝘿𝘼𝙉𝘾𝙄𝙉𝙂! 🌿

You can be sure that Activate's famous farm-field mobile DJs will be making an appearance deep-south-style! Bringing the high-vibe tunes to elevate your day of planting and keep you grooving while you restore the land. 💃 🕺 🎶 🪕 🪘🎷 We will be taking your fave grooving song request at ticket check-out.

Evenings at HQ will be a treat for your ears - live music, pumping DJs and camp-fire sing-alongs! Open Mic was hit last year, so have a think of a story/ song/ skit/ joke you'd like to share.

We have some incredibly talented artists confirmed including-

Formidable Vegetable Sound System! Whether it’s getting to gigs powered by waste veggie oil, crashing on couches or handing out heirloom seeds at their shows, international permaculture band of mystery, Formidable Vegetable try to walk the walk of regenerative living wherever they can on the road and at home. Through their relentless ongoing commitment to the movement and the music, Formidable Vegetable have cemented themselves as favourites on the bill of Australian and international festivals, having regularly played at some of the biggest arts & music events in the world such as Woodford, Shambhala (Canada) and Glastonbury (UK) alongside such acts as Dolly Parton, Radiohead, Tame Impala and The Rolling Stones.

Echo Omen! Crafting soulful, atmospheric beats with an emphasis on lyrical storytelling is Denmark, W.A. based multi-instrumentalist, vocalist and producer Matthew Bracknell, AKA Echo Omen.

Noni + Friends (Saplings songstresses)! Noni is a songwriter from the sandy soils and sheoak whispers of the South-West, shifting shadows of dreams and thanks into love songs to the deep.

EarthstatiK has represented Sonic Alchemy Records and held down the decks at many festivals and events throughout WA. Inspired by the big bass scene in Canada and North America, he brought this inspiration back to WA mixing lush chunky psychedelic bass/downtempo grooves. He has since grown into a multi genre DJ stepping up the tempo incorporating progressive house/deep driving techno. His seamless mixing will take you on a journey like no other fit for any moment. You can expect anything between lush ethereal bass music to deep psychedelic techno and anything in between.

🌿 FOOOOOD 🌿

Our cook's have got you covered; all your meals for the entire weekend are provided! 🍲🥗🥣🥘

They will be nourishing us all with freshly made, healthy, and delicious meals made with care and love. Dietary requirements will be catered for (ticket check-out). The absolute best way to end a day of planting together is to gather for a wholesome communal meal together.

BYO snacks, water bottle and plate/bowl/ cutlery.

Dance with new friends, yarn around the campfire, stretch out under the stars, breathe in the fresh country air and celebrate your weekend achievements. Activate is a community of incredible humans and we are stoked for you to be joining us this July. 🏕🌲🌳🌲

🌿PRACTICALITIES 🌿

One ticket covers you for all three days of the festival and includes

✮ Live music + DJs in the Farm Shed

✮ Morning yoga

✮ Mural painting + Kids Bug Hotel building activity

✮ All meals including tea and coffee

✮ Spacious campsite. Bring a tent or swag or you are welcome to stay in your vehicle/van/ caravan. note-no shower facilities this year

✮ Treeplanting equipment (no back bending required) and planting induction

✮ This is a drug and alcohol free event

✮ Please do not bring your dog or other animals to this event

✮ If you come to the event, you must be committed to staying the entire length of the event (Fri arvo - Sunday arvo)

✮ Program of the weekend, Packing List and more details will be sent out closer to the event

Ticket terms and conditions can be accessed here.

Please note that refunds can only be given up to two week prior to the event, so we have time to give it a new home! Please help us make sure we have enough planters for the 6000 seedlings. If you cancel at the last minute or swap with someone, please send us an email.
