    Event description

ONLINE SALES have now closed, however there are still limited door tickets available ($20, or $18 concession).
You can still make a donation via this page.

Activate Saplings invites you to our songdowner picnic at the Murdoch Community Garden!

In the lead up to our tree planting festival in June, we’re gathering in this little-known sweet spot for live tunes from local singer/songwriters, connection, and bit of fiscal support 😉

This is our second year of holding an Activate tree-planting event created for and by the next generation of environmental stewards. We truly believe in the power of healing the land while holding space for people of our generation to connect through music, nature and food.

    🌱 🌳 🌱 🌳 🌱 🌳 🌱 🌳

In June, we’ll be planting 36,000 seedlings in Nomans Lake! Backed by ATP, Trillion Trees and State NRM, and supported by you, we can make this happen. Please join us on Sunday 23 April from 3-7 pm for an evening of good vibes and to hear more about the Saplings festival.

All proceeds will go towards creating the community festival surrounding our tree-planting event. We are all volunteers and receive no profits from this venture!

    What you need to bring:

    • Seating: We’re going picnic style! There will be some rugs, cushions and chairs available, but it’s best to bring a picnic rug or camping chair to snuggle on.
    • Food: We will be providing light antipasto provisions, baked goods, and tea and coffee for your pleasure! If it’s hot food you’re after, we have soup and pies for sale (soup $2, pies $3) while stocks last. If you want something more substantial, you are welcome to bring your dinner along with you.
    • Personal protection: Make sure you cover up for sun-protection, warmth and to deter mosquitos (some mozzie repellent provided).
    • Keep cups: If you’re organised, bring your keep cup to enjoy a steaming cup of tea!

    Other important information:

Safety: Please be advised that given the outdoor, garden-y nature of the venue, there are uneven surfaces, stairs, ponds etc. to contend with. We ask that you take care when walking around.

Access: There is an alternative entrance if you can’t access stairs.  Please let us know at the door if you need assistance.

Children: This is a family-friendly event. If you are bringing your children, PLEASE BE AWARE that the garden has multiple open bodies of water. You are responsible for the safety of your children at all times, and we ask that they stay within the immediate bounds of the event under your supervision.

Photos: Photos will be taken at the event and shared on social media. If you do not want your photo taken or shared, please let us know.

Location: The garden is located at the Environmental Technology Centre, Campus Dr, Murdoch WA 6150. You can find it on google maps by typing in Murdoch Community Garden. If you are driving, we recommend entering and leaving the Murdoch Campus from Entrance E on Murdoch Drive.
