Description

In line with section 72 of the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (Act) training is to be chosen by the HSR (or deputy HSR) following consultation. The person conducting a business or undertaking (PCBU) must allow this training and meet all associated costs. Consultation is over arrangements for attending the course and issues such as; extra travel costs and time, any accommodation costs. Not the choice of training provider.

Effective consultation: Participation in issue resolution and monitoring risk controls as a HSR

• Representing workers as a HSR - negotiation and issues resolution

• Monitoring PCBUs' management of work health and safety risks

Monitoring PCBUs' management of work health and safety: workplace inspections, recording findings and 'notifiable incidents'

• Workplace inspection and recording findings - including practical exercise

• Obligation in relation to 'notifiable incidents' and resources available to assist

HSRs Issuing a Provisional Improvement Notice (PIN) and directing the cessation of unsafe work
