This interactive workshop explores the complexities of working with family violence within a counselling context.

Many counsellors and psychotherapists receive general training about Family Violence and are familiar with information about gender based violence. Beyond identifying obvious signs of violence, how do we approach this in the context of ongoing therapeutic work?

This training goes beyond the basic identification of Violence and explores dilemmas and various tools for addressing Family Violence specifically within a therapeutic context.

Frameworks for working with violence
Considerations for specific cohorts, including LBGTQIA+, elderly, people with disabilities

This workshop is appropriate for counsellors and psychotherapists who work with individuals, couples, families or young people, and:

who are interested in building their capacity to work with Family Violence within private practice, a school or organizational context
who may wish to refer on but want to ensure that they have adequate skills in identifying potential violence and supporting clients through the referral process
are seeking a refresher on this topic
