Almost 50% of Australians will face mental ill-health at some point in their lives. Nearly 10 Australians take their own lives each day - a figure approaching 3x the national road toll. Suicide was the leading cause of death in Australia in 2024 for people aged 15-44 and ranked 3rd for those aged 45-64.

To help address this crisis, we need to improve access to care, both practically via therapy and emotionally though breaking down stigmas associated with seeking out mental health support. Batyr, Emyria, and Malu Health are organisations that are scaling access to mental health care. The key is to ensure they have the funding to deliver on their growth plans and achieve better outcomes for all Australians.

Esther Lane, in conjunction with the Impact Investment Summit and Novar Impact Capital will bring together leaders from these organisations to showcase batyr’s preventative youth programs and digital products to empower open discussion about mental health, Emyria’s rollout of new clinics with TGA-approved psychedelic assisted therapy, and Malu’s new business model for more efficient therapy delivery at existing clinics. Speakers include:

Lucy Steggles, Head of Major Gifts & Philanthropy at batyr

Lucy worked in the professional services sector for 13 years in both Australia and the UK before transitioning to the not-for-profit sector where she has worked in executive leadership roles for the last 8 years. Passionate about philanthropy and social entrepreneurship, Lucy has used her time and skills to passionately drive social change.

Currently she holds two roles, as the Head of Major Gifts and Philanthropy at preventative youth mental health organisation, batyr; and Executive Officer of the next-gen philanthropic membership group, NEXUS. She has served on the NEXUS Global Mental Health Council, was an official delegate to the UNFPA brains trust on Youth Creating a Resilient World, and spoken on national and international panels in areas including philanthropy, financial sustainability, mental health and youth.

Greg Hutchinson, Executive Chair of Emyria

Greg has held leadership roles in rapidly scaling clinical services delivery for over 30 years, spending the last 13 as the CEO of Sonic HealthPlus and Deputy CEO of Sonic Clinical Services, subsidiaries of Sonic Healthcare Limited (ASX: SHL) an S&P/ASX 100 company.

Having graduated with First Class Honours in Physiotherapy (Bachelor of Applied Science) in 1989, Greg went on to establish a successful chain of private physiotherapy clinics throughout Australia. In the process, he completed Post Graduate studies in Sports Physiotherapy and enjoyed professional appointments with a variety of professional sporting clubs, events and teams.

Joseph Healy, Founder and CEO of Malu Health

Joseph holds an advanced degree in Psychology and Neuroscience of Mental Health. After a successful career in banking, including as the co-founder of Judo Bank, Joseph is now spearheading a bold new venture to acquire and professionalise around 125 independent mental-health clinics in Sydney and Melbourne. Rather than relying solely on digital tools, his model places skilled clinicians and human connection at its core, aiming to blend best-practice accountability with genuine, person-centred care.
