“ADHD – Easy to Treat … Hard to Treat Well” Dr Melissa Ford from the Quirky Kids Clinic would like to extend an invitation to attend a community education session on how to recognise, manage and thrive with ADHD SPELD QLD will be in attendance to discuss how their organisation can assist with identifying and diagnosing and managing suspect educational and learning disorder Tyneele Armstrong from Elis Place will discuss what is an Occupational and Speech Therapist what can they do and how can they help Are you a Parent, Carer or Educator living or working with individuals who have or are suspected to have ADHD ? At the Quirky Kids Clinic , we are passionate about kids and adults getting the help and support they need not just to live with ADHD but to thrive at home, at school and in the community ADHD is a genetically inherited disorder affecting an estimated 5% of children worldwide and 2.5% of adults (current data suggests closer to 10%) Untreated ADHD results in poor educational and social outcomes for our young people ,increased risk of family and domestic violence , increased carer stress and educator burnout Studies currently estimate a 20-40% increased risk of Youth Justice involvement before age 15 This session will discuss how to recognise possible issues early and pathways to investigate further and resources to support families , educators and our young people. |
