GP Training for ADHD – Pre‑Conference Workshop
This GP Training for ADHD pre‑conference workshop has been specifically designed to support General Practitioners to develop skills and confidence to diagnose, treat, and manage ADHD in both children and adults.
Taking place on Friday 29 May at the paranaple centre in Devonport, the workshop will provide practical training tailored to the evolving role of GPs in ADHD care.
Participants will consider assessment and diagnosis, pharmacological and non‑pharmacological treatment approaches, and long‑term management strategies.
The 6 hours of training coupled with completion of the RACGP or ACRRM ADHD modules will enable participating GPs to apply for authorisation to initiate the prescription of schedule 8 psychostimulants for patients they assess and diagnose with ADHD.
This workshop is ideal for GPs and GP registrars who wish to expand their scope of practice, prepare for forthcoming reforms, and play an active role in improving access to timely ADHD care for Tasmanian patients. It offers a valuable opportunity to build capability ahead of the main conference and to engage with peers and expert facilitators in a supportive learning environment.
