FLING's Adult Community Engagement Programs are a welcoming space to try something new, or return to your body in movement.
Classes are facilitated by FLING's team of professional dance artists and open to all abilities, ages and levels of experience.
Join Associate Artist Paddy Meessmann for 'Adult Beginner Ballet'.
WHAT TO EXPECT?:
Beginner Adult Ballet moves through a series of led ballet exercises.
We will warm, lengthen and stabilise the body before moving through sequences & simple ballet coordinations at the barre and in the centre.
Beginner Adult Ballet will support you to access new ballet movement or return to dance in a way that is easeful, playful and sustainable for the body and the mind!
Class is led from the perspective of a contemporary dance artist, with strong anatomical knowledge and a focus on efficient pathways.
Expect an improvement of strength and movement range, and the development of balance and coordination to carry into your everyday life.
WHO IS IT FOR?:
Movers of all ages and abilities
Those new to ballet or returning to ballet after a long time away
Those looking for a movement activity to build strength or recover from injury
Those who love classical music!
WHO IS LEADING?:
Our Associate Artist Paddy Meessmann is an experienced and vibrant facilitator - and an original FLINGer!
He keeps all participants engaged, thriving, laughing (at his expense) and sweating! He is a professional dancer and educator who teaches ballet from his perspective as a contemporary dance artist, filled with imagery, anatomical information and movement cues to find ballet that fits your body - where you're at.
He is passionate about performing and you're sure to feel like Bega's next prima ballerina by the end of class.
WHAT TO WEAR?:
Wear something comfortable to move in.
Bring socks or ballet shoes for your feet.
Class content can be adjusted with support from our teachers to suit your mobility needs.
If you have any accessibility requirements or previous injuries you would like to discuss before joining us, don't hesitate to get in touch.
*This class is best experienced in a series, however casual attendance is available.
Please Note: This event will go ahead with 7 enrolments to the full series. Bookings will be informed by Mon 21 July.
