BEGINNER ADULT JAZZ COMBO

Our beginner adult jazz combo class is designed to introduce you to jazz performance in a supportive, engaging environment. Led by accomplished jazz artists who make their living on the stage, you'll gain invaluable insights and hands-on experience in this uniquely American art form.

Whether you're dusting off an old instrument or looking to expand your musical horizons, this class will help you develop the skills needed to play in a jazz ensemble. You'll learn to swing, improvise, and collaborate with fellow musicians while exploring classic jazz standards and honing your musical instincts.

PREREQUISITES...

Before enrolling, we strongly urge potential students to ensure they meet the following prerequisites.
These are essential for getting the most out of the class and contributing effectively to the ensemble:

1. Basic music reading ability
2. Familiarity with the notes on your instrument
3. Knowledge of major and minor scales and chords

CLASS OBJECTIVES:

- Learn and perform common jazz standards
- Develop beginning improvisation skills using triads and chord tones
- Enhance band leading abilities
- Master reading charts, lead sheets, and roadmaps
- Understand ensemble dynamics and instrument roles (e.g., how the bass locks in with the drums)
