Description

Develop advanced applications, assessment skills and clinical reasoning in our Advanced Dry Needling Course.

Take your dry needling practice beyond foundational trigger point techniques and develop a broader, clinically reasoned approach to patient care.

If you have already completed dry needling training and want to dramatically improve your scope and understanding of dry needling techniques, then this is the course for you!

This one-day practical course is designed for practitioners who have already completed formal dry needling training and are ready to expand this knowledge. It explored advanced needling applications, neurophysiological mechanisms, objective assessment and treatment of muscular and non-muscular structures. With a strong focus on selecting needling techniques that fit the patient's presentation and treatment goals, this course will expand your approach to dry needling and patient care.

You will work through higher-risk anatomical regions, deep spinal applications, sensitisation and complex presentations all under close instruction and guidance. You'll gain the confidence to integrate dry needling seamlessly into your clinical practice alongside objective measures, exercise and rehabilitation.

This course brings the scientific literature on dry needling to life, demonstrating exactly how you can utilise many contemporary and novel approaches to needling in clinical practice.

Who is this course for?

This course is designed for suitably qualified allied health and manual therapy professionals, including:

·      Physiotherapists

Course prerequisite

This is not a beginner course. You must have completed a formal foundational dry needling education before attending. This advanced course assumes you already understand needling safety, hygiene, contraindications and core practical techniques.

Learning Outcomes

Advanced mechanisms and clinical application. Explore neurophysiological mechanisms and use them to select dry needling approaches for different clinical goals.

Objective assessment. Integrate objective measures with dry needling by using handheld algometry and dynamometry to assess for indications and effectiveness of dry needling applications.

Deep spinal anatomy and needling. Enhance confidence and safety in performing deep dry needling techniques, in the thoracic spine, lumbar spine and cervical spine, ensuring safe and effective practice.

Anatomy in three dimensions. Integrate the use of anatomy software to gain a comprehensive understanding of 3D and cross-sectional anatomy.

Movement and exercise integration. Learn dry needling techniques that complement movement-based rehabilitation and exercise programs, grounded in neurophysiological explanations and pain science principles.

Scar tissue needling. Apply dry needling techniques in the treatment of problematic scar tissue, to reduce sensitivity and improve movement of associated tissues.

Fascial dry needling. Use dry needling to interface with the fascia specifically, utilising specific fascial loading techniques to trigger change in sensation and the mobility of the fascia itself.

Needling to non-muscular structures. Develop proficiency in dry needling applications specifically tailored for ligamentous injuries to enhance recovery.

Segmental and sensitization-focused approaches. Improve your ability to assess peripheral and central sensitization and apply appropriate dry needling interventions.

Neurological presentations. Perform dry needling for neurological conditions including spasticity and contractures.

Stimulation and dosage. Improve treatment outcomes and effectiveness with needling technique applying a range of stimulation approaches and make clinically reasoned decisions about technique, dosage and patient response.

Case-based reasoning. Build a thorough understanding and improved confidence in the application of dry needling for several clinical presentations, using clinical cases to consolidate assessment, treatment selection and progression.

What is included?

  • One full day of practical training

  • 8 hours of professional development

  • Free lifetime access to our post-course video library cover the techniques taught
