Advanced Mapping in Narrative Therapy

| A Full-Day Workshop to Update & Enrich Therapeutic Skills |

You are invited to spend a day with Adelaide Narrative Therapy Collective, deep diving into what is known as the Maps of Narrative Practice, from Michael White's excellent text articulating his Narrative Therapy practice. Since this was published, the Maps have continued to serve and be developed by practitioners - not just Narrative - in their collaborative and Social Constructionist approaches to therapeutic process and justice seeking.

This skills/case-based workshop will cover those Maps already known and familiar, such as the Statement of Position Maps 1 & 2 (Externalising & Re-authoring) and those less familiar but possible to know, such as therapeutic position, absent but implicit and a range of new off-the-map practices.

Not for the faint hearted: theoretical distinctions will be traversed such as spaces between structural and post-structural, and beyond, then back to the material and pragmatic experiences of peoples lives. Any and all questions are welcome.

Adelaide Narrative Therapy Collective are working practitioners opening up accountability conversations with clients, and continuously reviewing and counter-viewing our conversations through client's hopes and actions in their lives. Our therapeutic and theoretical practice is closely aligned to the work of Michael White co-creator of Narrative Therapy (Adelaide based) and Alan Jenkins & co (also Adelaide based) on Invitational practice and restorative justice with violence and abuse.

WHO:

+ Professionals who work closely with clients using Narrative Therapy and other collaborative therapeutic approaches.

+ Students in Masters of Counselling, Social Work or Psychology, who are drawn to Narrative Therapy and Social Constructionism Theory & Practice | Student Discount Available

PRIOR KNOWLEDGE: at least a Level One in Narrative or Narrative Therapy Units from the Masters in Counselling or Masters in Social Work or Counselling Psychology from Flinders University, Adelaide Uni, and Monash University (Online).

LIMITED SEATS: to be as collaborative as possible we have limited to 15 places. Capacity of training room is 20.

DURATION: 7 hours - Professional Development points claimable with PACFA, AASW, ACA, APA etc

LOCATION: Beautiful and Bright Brompton Community Centre: "19 on Green"

No 19, Green Street, Brompton: Training room with kitchen facilities including coffee, tea etc for contribution of $2. A Community Garden to enjoy during the breaks. Plenty of Parking. Bring your own lunch, the Excelsior Pub is a short 3 min walk or Seven Grounds on Hawker St, Bowden is a longer 10 min walk.

OPTIONAL SUBSCRIPTION TO COMMUNITY OF PRACTICE SUPERVISION GROUP: 6 x 2-hour small group supervision sessions at $60 per session - to sustain practice development. Price contributes to Adelaide Narrative Rent & Nibbles provided.
