Advanced Practice: Homicide Prevention with Men Using Family Violence - Online Delivery
Description
This Homicide Prevention with Men Using Family Violence training is a two half-day online workshop. It equips participants with the knowledge and practical skills required to identify and respond to risk factors associated with intimate partner homicide, drawing on current evidence and established frameworks.
Participants will deepen their understanding of coercive control patterns, recognise key indicators of escalating risk—including separation, jealousy, stalking, threats, strangulation, and weapon access—and strengthen their ability to document and assess risk accurately. The session also explores homicide and suicidality theories, with a focus on applying Monckton Smith’s eight-stage model to enhance predictive analysis. Through applied learning, participants will build confidence in tracking escalation, implementing dynamic safety planning, and using reflective, evidence-informed strategies to guide decision-making and intervention.
