Advocating for Change in a Conflicted Funding Relationship
Event description
You are invited to attend a workshop that will explore the age-old question of ‘how community sector organisations can achieve change whilst balancing the needs of communities and demands of funders.’
In order to navigate these murky waters, community sector leaders need to be mindful of how they approach their advocacy relationships with their funders. This workshop, a collaboration between WACOSS, Murdoch University Law School and University of Technology Sydney Business School, will explore these questions in a strategic workshop for WA community sector leaders.
The goal of this workshop will be to critically reflect on the current context and then explore avenues and strategies for shifting the status quo more in favour of the people and communities who need it most.
This outcomes and solutions-oriented workshop will be led by Mark Riboldi – lecturer of social impact and social change in the Management Department of UTS Business School. Building on careers in international education, political campaigning, and community sector advocacy, Mark’s research centres around the democratic importance of civil society organisations.
