Event description
An exhibition by Modern Art Projects Blue Mountains, Aerie celebrates the social and cultural history of the Wentworth Falls School of Arts and MAPBM’s own history of contemporary art making.
Curator/Artist Talk - 2:00pm Saturday 6 September 2025
In this session the exhibition curator Cassandra Hard Lawrie will be joined by the MAPBM member exhibition artists who will talk about their works in the show in the context of the exhibition themes.
Live Performance Light & Mirrors by Katya Petetskaya - 3:00pm Saturday 6 September 2025
Immediately after the Curator/Artist Talk, MAPBM member artist Katya Petetskaya will present Light & Mirrors.
A site-responsive performance by Katya Petetskaya at the historic Wentworth Falls School of Arts. Through shifting mirror reflections of the building, its surroundings, the audience and the performer, the work explores layered and fragmented histories of the site. Drawing on the phrase “smoke and mirrors,” the performance reclaims the mirror as a tool of clarity, inviting multiplicity, transformation - both literal and metaphorical - on history, how we engage with it and make sense of it.
These sessions are free but please RSVP by Friday 5 September 2025.
Katya Petetskaya will also be performing at 2:30pm on Sunday 7 September. For more information about Light & Mirrors and about the Sunday performance please go to https://events.humanitix.com/aerie-katya-performance2
