OpenStar is building the machines that will power the future. By harnessing fusion, the same process that happens in the sun, we can provide clean, abundant energy globally. OpenStar is developing the levitated dipole concept and are world leaders in this approach. This talk will outline the why's and how's of our technology, and what's next for the team.
Ben Mallet - Senior Scientist, Paihau Robinson Research Institute
The space team at Paihau Robinson Research Institute is developing technology for spacecraft propulsion and shielding. The research builds upon the institute's heritage in superconductivity and involves close collaborations around the world. This talk outlines the context of our work, shares our latest results and stories from our 'clean-ish room' getting the Heki-mission ready for its trip to the International Space Station.
Peter Johnson - Director Aerospace, Nova Systems NZ
“Simplifying complexity - why I want more Lasagna and less Spaghetti Bolognese”
Angela Manchester - Earth Observation Lab & Professor Alejandro Frery Orgambide - Professor, Victoria University of Wellington
Alejandro will explore the key features of active microwave remote sensing (with SAR - Synthetic Aperture Radar and PolSAR - Polarimetric SAR sensors) and its value for Earth observation. He'll highlight what this technology can and can’t do, the challenges it presents, and why it deserves a central place in any Earth observation workflow.
