Aether + Vassallo Album Launch (Sydney)

Event description

Sydney ambient/post-rock duo Aether + Vassallo release their debut album Unbroken.

Unbroken is a mesmerising and deeply immersive experience where field recordings transport us to a wildlife sanctuary of birds and insects, of wind and rain, of creatures of the light and of the dark. Journeying through a single day from early morning to a deep night rainstorm, we experience the world through the lens of poetics and passion, from light and sweet to dark and monstrous.

Bronwyn Eather's soundscapes, piano & haunting vocalisations entwine with Paul Vassallo's dark, attentive and achingly sweet guitar to bring you sonic poems with antipodean ambience and gondwana dreamscape. The evening will be enhanced by Eather's large scale video projections combined with those of LIVING SCIENCE Dept.

Bronwyn Eather is a Sydney musician, writer and performing artist, whose career in linguistics took her to remote Arnhem Land, where she recorded and learned Indigenous languages.
Paul Vassallo is a Sydney musician of depth and quality specialising in slide guitar who emerged from the creative space of The Gunnery in Sydney, where he learned to master open tuning.

Inga Liljeström is an Australian Finnish experimental vocalist and composer, renowned for her haunting vocals, evocative lyrics, and explorative sonic landscapes. Inga now resides in Melbourne and is a very special guest for this show in Sydney. Inga has released six studio albums and is currently working on a PhD in music, delving into the concept of the creative muse and inspirational sources.

Helvetica Noise – is Genevieve von Black (synths), Aviva Shifreen (words) & Matthew Syres (electronics & effects) - where a writer, a musician & a noise artist fuse improvisation, procedure, experimentation & composition to create unfolding soundscapes - moments in time that you’ll never hear the same way twice – as fleeting as moths under streetlights.
