Coming home from five months in Europe and acclaimed performances in Germany, Spain and the UK, Affinity Quartet is thrilled to bring their first tour program for the year to Aireys Inlet. INNOVATORS also tours to Melbourne, Mornington, Vic, Canberra ACT, and Adelong NSW. Two works by Beethoven and Bartók explore bold innovations in the string quartet from the 18th to the 20th century.
A young Beethoven’s first foray into string quartets, his Opus 18, shows the creative ambition he would devote to the string quartet over his lifetime. Inspired by Beethoven, the Hungarian composer Bela Bartók’s first string quartet creates a striking new direction for the string quartet in the 20th century.
