Event description

Welcome to the inaugural talk of the Agrifood Innovation Institute Industry Seminar Series.

This series aims to foster dialogue amongst professionals and researchers across multiple sectors, addressing important topics within the agrifood sector.

April’s seminar:

In the 2023 Federal Budget the Government announced a shared responsibility model for funding biosecurity initiatives. In this session, we hear two industry perspectives of the likely impact of the proposed levy - Saša Vanek from the Tax and Transfer Policy Institute (TTPI), and Tony Mahar from the National Farmers Federation (NFF).

About the speakers:

Saša Vanek has been with the TTPI since 2022 and has assisted research into intergenerational tax, sex-discrepancies in tax and transfers, and the tax treatment of trusts in Australia.

Tony Mahar has been the NFF CEO since March 2016, after holding the positions of Deputy CEO and Trade and Economics Manager. He has tertiary qualifications in Agricultural Commerce from Sydney University and a Masters degree in Industry Policy from ANU.
