Afro-Brazilian Festival
Event description
Running from October to December in South West Edinburgh, the Afro-Brazilian Festival brings rhythm, warmth, and community spirit to the winter months. This project, created, managed, and organised by Axé Boom Boom and supported by the City of Edinburgh Council, offers a series of hands-on workshops in Capoeira, Brazilian and West African dances, and Djembe drumming, giving participants of all ages the chance to learn new skills, connect with others, and immerse themselves in Afro-Brazilian culture.
The festival culminates in a vibrant one-day celebration in early December, featuring live performances, food, crafts, and cultural activities—creating a joyful space for learning, sharing, and community connection. Whether you’re new to Capoeira, drumming, or dance, or simply want to experience the energy and joy of Afro-Brazilian traditions, there’s something for everyone.
