Join author Annette Lees for a captivating After Dark forest walk, inspired by her acclaimed book After Dark: Walking into the Nights of Aotearoa.
The evening begins at Ōmiha Memorial Hall with a kōrero/talk at 7:00pm, followed by an hour-long walk into the local forest, led by Annette’s evocative storytelling. Experience the magic of nightfall as you listen for ruru, gaze at the stars, and witness how familiar landscapes are transformed into mysterious, enchanting places after sunset.
With Annette as your guide, engage your senses and navigate with limited light, discovering the hidden life of Aotearoa’s nocturnal world. Along the way, she will weave together memoir, natural history, and social stories to create a truly immersive and memorable experience.
After the walk, return to the Hall to enjoy a hot drink and take part in a book signing session. This unique event is suitable for ages 12 and up. Please note that the forest walk involves uneven terrain and low visibility.
