Term 4 After School - Bush Skills
Description
Born Wild Academy - After school literacy and numeracy enrichment.
A different kind of after-school learning experience, where literacy and numeracy come alive through nature, adventure and inspiring quests.
Born Wild Academy - After School Literacy and Numeracy Enrichment program combines intentional teaching by an experienced teacher, with Forest School pedagogy, giving children the opportunity to strengthen their literacy and numeracy skills through hands-on, meaningful experiences outdoors.
Each 1.5-hour session is built around an inspiring Born Wild Quest. Children might follow clues, solve problems, build, measure, map, investigate, write, read, calculate or work together to overcome a challenge. The quest provides a meaningful context for children to practise and apply literacy and numeracy skills.
Sessions incorporate:
Literacy and numeracy enrichment
Reading, writing, spelling and mathematical thinking
Hands-on, practical learning
Forest School pedagogy
Nature-based exploration and discovery
Problem solving, reasoning and collaboration
Open-ended challenges and child-led exploration
Inspiring weekly quests that connect learning to the natural world
The program is designed to complement children's school learning while offering something quite different from traditional tutoring.
Children learn outdoors, move their bodies, use real materials, take appropriate risks, solve authentic problems and develop confidence as capable, curious learners.
Suitable for primary-aged children. We are neuro and gender affirming and will work with families to ensure an inclusive setting for your child.
