After the Bell: Climate Superpowers in the Classroom

Are you seeking ways to engage with students around climate change in ways that help them recognise, use and develop their strengths?

The Climate Superpowers (climatesuperpowers.org) website was created with and for young people. It invites young people to take a quiz to find out about their ‘climate superpowers’ – social, natural, built, political, human, cultural and financial – and then to explore ways of using these for learning about climate change, taking action, and self-care.

Since the website was launched in 2022, young people, teachers and researchers have been working together to apply the climate superpowers approach within classrooms.

Phoebe Quinn, Research Fellow at the University of Melbourne, will provide an overview of the Climate Superpowers body of work, including:

how the original website was created with young co-designers in Victoria
activities that students and teachers have piloted in classroom settings
next steps in creating resources to support teaching and teacher wellbeing
opportunities for teachers and schools to get involved.

After the Bell is a series of professional learning workshops organised by Sustainability Victoria and ResourceSmart Schools . The event runs every term and is designed to share emerging sustainability initiatives with teachers, educators and stakeholders working on sustainability.
