Afterschool Art classes - Clay & Create

This event has passed Get Tickets

Event description

Afterschool Clay & Create classes are for students with an interest or talent in making things by hand - clay, sculpture and textiles!

The first two terms of the year follow a theme and students work towards a mid year art show - and the second half of the year has a different theme and students work towards an end of year project.

For term one and term two 2024 our studio theme  is "I AM AN ARTIST"
On the 22nd June students will host their very own art exhibition to show off their work!

Our I AM AN ARTIST theme is all about celebrating each student's unique style and building confidence and self esteem through art making.  Over the first two terms students will learn practical techniques in drawing and painting and also have the opportunity to learn about presenting work for display  and understanding how art contributes to our community.

In term one students will be focusing on:

Clay - Students will learn the foundation skills of making sculpture with clay and create some fabulous projects!

Textile - students will learn macramé skills and get to make a wall hanging

Polymer clay - working with coloured polymer clay to create tiny, miniature creative projects!

Classes combine instruction and skill building with the opportunity for children to find their own creative expression and style - we train young artists to be their best creative selves and not just produce copied art projects. This helps build both art making ability and self esteem and confidence!

Our classes involve set lessons each week and students will complete a number of works over the term and get to try different art products and methods.

In term one this class will be taught by Claire & Emmie
