Join us for a night of laughs!
With the support of Wollongong Comedy, Age Matters is holding a comedy night fundraiser on Friday 24 November at 8pm (for an 8.30pm start).
This great night of laughs will see the return of Wollongong Comedy to the The Builders Club in Wollongong after a hiatus. A full lineup of comedians will entertain in the newly renovated ‘Basement’ space – all for charity.
Purchasing a ticket makes a valuable contribution to Age Matters, supporting older people facing homelessness and isolation. Age Matters, an initiative of IRT, relies on the support of the community to help vulnerable older people across the Illawarra and Shoalhaven.
Tickets are just $40 with all profits going to Age Matters. Get a group together and book early to secure a table.
A limited number of Sponsorships are available with guest seating at VIP tables and acknowledgement in all promotional material.
Refreshments will be available for purchase at the venue. Get in early on the night to eat at the popular Bistro as wait times can be up to an hour. The Builders Club Wollongong is located at 61 Church Street Wollongong and has an in-club Bistro, Steakhouse and an awesome Gin & Cocktail Bar. The venue is accessible.

Tommy Dean (headline act)
Tommy Dean is an American comedian with a unique understanding of Australia, its audiences and above all, what makes us laugh. Indeed, the cultural divide between Americans and Australians provides much of his intelligent observational humour.
Tommy’s performance style is laid back to say the least and he’s consistently a stand out winner with audiences across his adopted nation. Firmly established as one of Australia’s most sought-after comic performers and writers, he is a huge hit with theatre audiences, corporate clients and festival producers and on TV and radio shows.
In constant demand on the live circuit, Tommy is a regular headline act in comedy venues around Australia. He has also performed in many of the leading comedy clubs in the USA as well as New Zealand, North America, Europe and South East Asia.
Some of Tommy Deans’ TV credits include: Spicks and Specks, Sunrise, The Glasshouse, O’Loghlin, (regular guest and writer), Backburner (writer), The Fat (guest and writer), Good News Week, Thank God it’s Friday, The Today Show, and the Take No Prisoners Amnesty International Comedy Festival for Foxtel.
David Smiedt has been delighting audiences around the country and overseas with his brand of warm inclusive comedy for over 12 years and is now one of Australia's finest comedian MC's and corporate performers. David is a regular on television shows such as Mornings with Kerri-Ann Sunrise, The Today Show, Ready Steady Cook and having appeared on Stand Up Australia he is also the author of six humorous books.
He also is a writer for a wide range of magazines including Elle, Cosmopolitan, Men's Health, Women's Health, Body & Soul and Vogue where he specialises in a humorous take on style health trends and celebrity profiles. Aside from being the current grooming editor for GQ magazine he is the only journalist in Australian publishing history to be in concurrent issues of lads-mag Ralph and Your Garden.
David opened for Joan Rivers during her Sydney theatre run, Mark Watson's Sydney festival season and Martin Short's Melbourne Crown Casino performances.
