Gary Johnson
An award winning internationally recognised Chef with over 40 years of culinary experience and leadership in restaurants, pubs and hotels from several different countries. In 2011, I was awarded the NSW Hotel Association “Chef of the Year” and then the Australian Hotel Association (AHA) “National Chef of the Year”. In 2019, I was recognised by the Australian Culinary Federation as an Honorary Life Member.

My culinary philosophy is focused on regional Australian produce and “simple excellence” in the kitchen.
I believe that locally sourced, good-quality and sustainable produce is best served fresh; yet skilfully prepared to enhance its natural flavour and presentation.

My collaborative management style enables me to create and share, a clear and inspiring vision of where we are leading the business in food. Through honest communication building trust with my teams; they realise how important their roles are in bringing this vision to life! “people + product + passion = profit”

Dr Karen Abbey
Dr Karen Abbey is a Foodservice Dietitian and Special Dietary Chef and has worked extensively across the foodservice sectors both here and internationally. Working in the aged care sector as a consultant, foodservice manager and kitchen planner.  Karen is the Director of Nutrition and Catering Consultancy promoting quality in foodservices, foodservice systems, training, menu planning/reviews, recipe development and finding practical solutions for those in care, working in foodservices and the food manufacturing industry.

As the founder and CEO of the Nutrition and Catering Institute (NACi)  a charitable not-for-profit,  undertaking research to find real solutions in the foodservice system, services and choice.  Research and translating the scientific data into practical solutions is a priority for lasting change in the foodservice system. The NACi is currently partnering with foodservice companies, aged care homes & Meals on Wheels Queensland to undertake this vital work to improve care and service delivery.

Angeline is a respected industry leader and innovation expert with over 20 years of international experience at blue-chip companies like Mondelez International, Yum Brands, Fonterra, Simplot, and MARS.
Her career includes co-leading the groundbreaking Food Innovation Hub and launching over 1000 innovations across APAC markets. Angeline is committed to a sustainable global food system and advancing Australia’s role in agrifood value-added products.
