"We're agile, so we don't do requirements."

What that usually means is that the requirements are still being made — verbally, by whoever is loudest in refinement, with no record of what was decided or why. Six months later nobody can reconstruct the reasoning, and the thing that was built is defended on the grounds that it is what the team agreed.

Two days on doing the analysis properly inside an agile delivery model rather than pretending the need went away.

Who this is for

Business Analysts working in Scrum, Kanban or scaled agile environments; Product Owners who have inherited analysis work; and BA leads setting a standard for how analysis is done across agile teams.

What we cover

Where analysis actually lives in an agile delivery model — and who owns which part of it
Carrying intent from portfolio and product level down to a story without losing the why
User stories that carry real intent, and splitting that preserves value rather than slicing by technical layer
Acceptance criteria that are testable rather than aspirational
Backlog craft: refinement that is worth the hour, ordering, and honest definitions of ready and done
Non-functional requirements when there is no requirements document to put them in
Data and integration analysis without big design up front
The deferral boundary: which decisions genuinely can wait, and which ones cost you six months when they do
Working alongside Product Owners, architects and testers without duplicating their jobs

What you leave with

A story and acceptance-criteria standard your team can adopt directly
A refinement approach that produces decisions rather than discussion
A defensible line on what can be deferred — and the evidence to hold it
