AI Horizons: Context Engineering for Better Systems
Description
AI Horizons: Context Engineering for Better Systems
The model is a given. The context is the craft.
AI is moving beyond simple prompts and isolated tools. The real challenge now is designing the context around AI systems, including instructions, knowledge, tools, memory, evaluation, workflows and standards.
In this edition of AI Horizons, we will explore how context engineering is becoming one of the most important skills for building useful, reliable and production ready AI systems.
Our speakers will share practical lessons from agentic development, AI powered product engineering, open standards, LLM evaluation and real world automation projects. From engineering practices to open agent standards and production GenAI systems, this event will focus on what actually makes AI work in practice.

Meet the Speakers
Amir Zahedi
Team Lead @ FleetGuru.ai
Amir has 25 years of experience across backend, frontend and DevOps. He is now focused on agentic development, AI powered systems and the engineering practices that support them, including automated code review, observability and deployment.
Amir will share a practical playbook for context engineering, exploring why the model is a given, but the context around it is the craft that makes AI actually work.
Leonardo Pinheiro
Senior ML Engineer @ Microsoft
Leonardo is a Senior ML Engineer at Microsoft in Brisbane, where he builds agentic Copilot features for Clipchamp and works on the LLM evaluation platform now used across the product organisation.
He has spent more than a decade taking AI from prototype to production, including clinical radiology systems at Harrison AI, new ventures at BCGX and startups worldwide as an independent consultant.
His presentation, Open Standards for the Age of AI Agents, will explore why an AI agent is only as good as the context it can reach. He will make the case that open standards are how the industry makes well engineered context portable and reusable, using examples such as MCP, AGENTS.md, goose and agentgateway.
Ella Ferreira
Software Engineer, AI and ML Integration Engineer, City Lead at Build Club Brisbane
Ella Ferreira is a software engineer building AI powered solutions and fostering inclusive tech communities.
At Montu, Ella identified a support bottleneck and built a GenAI automation solution using AWS Bedrock and NestJS. This work contributed to the creation of a new AI team and a production chatbot supporting more than 1,000 monthly users.
She has also led platform migrations for more than 10,000 patients and built scalable applications using React, TypeScript and Node.js in regulated environments.
As City Lead at Build Club Brisbane, Ella creates spaces where developers can learn, experiment and grow together. She will share her experience working with AI powered solutions, community building and helping more people engage with practical AI development.
Pedro Giesel
