This talk explores how we designers can rethink our creative processes to leverage Generative AI. Drawing on observational studies, design pedagogy, and research through design, it examines how AI tools can shift design cognition, workflows, and concept development. Attendees will gain insight into the ways designers frame, adapt, and negotiate meaning when collaborating with AI, with examples from speculative architecture and co-creation practices.
About the speaker:
Dr Linus Tan is a researcher, educator, and architectural designer exploring how generative AI is transforming creative practice. Based at Swinburne University of Technology, his work explores how designers and teams think, adapt, and collaborate with AI tools across design research, architectural design, and speculative design. Linus run practical workshops that help academics, practitioners and organisations integrate AI meaningfully into their practice. His work has been featured at Melbourne Design Week, as a TEDx Talk and has been cited in Nature and Wikipedia. View more at www.linustan.com.
