Universities are in a unique position where they are expected to both promote and constrain the use of Generative AI tools (i.e. ChatGPT, Claude, etc.). AI Literacy, designed to promote knowledge and competencies that encourages critical and effective AI use, is one response. However, what AI literacy means and what it entails is contentious.

In this workshop, we will

consider the opportunities AI brings to the higher education context;
consider the challenges AI raises within the higher education context;
collaborative brainstorm future aims of AI literacy.

Workshop hosts will also share their findings of current AI literacy efforts from across the Australian higher education landscape.

This project funded by Centre of AI and Digital Ethics. The findings of this workshop will help guide us in developing key competencies for AI literacy.
