AI WRANGLER CHALLENGE
Description
Think you know AI? Show us.
The AI Wrangler Challenge transforms Melbourne into a live, AI-powered playground.
Explore the city, unlock hidden locations and take on practical challenges that test how well you and your team can think, create, collaborate and put AI to work.
Solve problems. Spot AI hallucinations. Improve poor responses. Create the unexpected. Experiment with leading AI tools and discover how much better the results become when human judgement, creativity and context are part of the process.
Every challenge earns points, but this is not a race against the clock. Quality, creativity, problem solving and the experience itself matter more than speed.
The leaderboard adds a little friendly competition, but the real goal is simple: have fun, build practical AI capability and discover what you can achieve with AI. We are keen to see what you create.

Larger organisations can enter multiple teams, all completing the same challenges and comparing their results on the leaderboard.
Bring your colleagues, friends, family or fellow AI adventurers and discover what happens when you take AI out of the chat window and put it to work in the real world.
The Challenge is designed to be accessible, practical and fun for beginners through to experienced AI users.
How it works
1. Get your AI Wrangler Passport before you arrive
Before Challenge day, we’ll send you your AI Wrangler Passport checklist with everything you need to get ready, including the apps, accounts and access details required for the experience. Setting these up in advance means less time on administration and more time enjoying the Challenge when you arrive.
2. Arrive and check in
Meet the AI Wrangler crew at Natural Velocity, inside The District Docklands, around 15 minutes before your booked start time. We’ll get you checked in, answer any final questions and make sure you’re ready to go.
3. Get your mission
Open the AI Wrangler Challenge app, receive your digital mission brief and unlock your first clue.
4. Begin your adventure
Use the app to follow clues, navigate the route and unlock GPS-triggered checkpoints, hidden locations and bonus challenges across the Docklands precinct.
5. Take on the challenges
Use AI to solve problems, create content, test ideas, spot hallucinations, improve responses and complete practical tasks. Submit your answers, photos and creations through the Challenge app as you go.
6. Earn points and climb the leaderboard
Every challenge gives you the opportunity to earn points based on the quality of your response. The leaderboard adds some friendly competition, but this is not a race against the clock.
Take the time to think, experiment and create your best response. Quality, creativity, problem solving and the experience itself matter more than speed.
And yes, there are still prizes, bragging rights and plenty of AI Wrangler glory up for grabs.
Your AI Wrangler Rewards Card
Every participant receives their own AI Wrangler Rewards Card as part of the Challenge.
Think of it as your personal access card to the AI Wrangler experience.

Your card comes preloaded with value that you can use during the Challenge at participating locations, activities and experiences along the route.
Use it as you explore, complete challenges and unlock more of what the AI Wrangler experience has to offer.
And the best part, the card is yours to keep.
After the Challenge, it becomes your ongoing connection to the AI Wrangler and Natural Velocity ecosystem, with the potential to unlock future experiences, events, offers, benefits and rewards.
So the journey doesn’t necessarily end when the Challenge does.
One Challenge. One card. Plenty more to unlock.
Ready to show us what you can do?
Challenges run most days of the week and so please choose your start time and get ready for some fun

FAQs
- Why did Natural Velocity create the AI Wrangler Challenge
Because Australia doesn’t have a talent or technology problem, we have an adoption problem.
Research highlighted by Melbourne University and KPMG places Australia 9th last globally for enterprise AI adoption, while the IMD World Competitiveness Rankings placed Australia 105th in the world for complex productivity.
Yet Australia has world-class people, strong businesses, leading research and access to the same AI technologies as the rest of the world. The opportunity is there — the challenge is turning that potential into practical action.
At Natural Velocity, this is grounded in a very simple belief:
WE BELIEVE
AI augments human intelligence. Human values shape the future. As AI becomes more capable and intelligence becomes increasingly abundant, knowing how to operate AI is only part of the equation. People also need the judgement to know when, where and how it should be used.
That is why we created the AI Wrangler Challenge which will be roll out to cities around Australia and then globally.
Rather than another seminar where people simply hear about AI, the Challenge gets people actually using it. Participants explore leading AI tools, solve real-world problems, create things, experiment, collaborate and discover where AI can produce genuine value.
And importantly, we want to make that experience fun, accessible and human, whether someone is using AI for the first time or already works with it every day.
Our ambition is bigger than teaching people how to use a few AI tools. We want to help Australians:
build greater AI confidence and capability
learn how to combine human judgement with AI capability
turn experimentation into productivity and measurable ROI
adopt AI responsibly and with people at the centre
strengthen the competitiveness of Australian businesses
contribute to closing Australia's broader AI opportunity gap
We believe Australia has the talent, technology and opportunity to do considerably better.
The AI Wrangler Challenge is one practical way of helping turn that potential into action, one person, one team and one organisation at a time.

Not recommended 😂 - Do I need to bring my own device?
Yes. Every participant should bring a fully charged smartphone with mobile data. Your phone is used throughout the Challenge to access the experience, follow clues, navigate between locations, unlock GPS-based activities and submit your responses.
The device requirements then depend on the Challenge level you choose:
Explorer
A smartphone is all you need.Adventurer & Trailblazer
Bring both a smartphone and a laptop. Your phone is used to navigate the Challenge, while your laptop is used for the more advanced creation, problem-solving and AI activities. For Adventurer and Trailblazer, we recommend each participant brings their own laptop so everyone can actively take part rather than simply watching someone else complete the challenge.
We also recommend bringing a portable charger or power bank if you have one, as your phone will be in regular use throughout the experience.
Come charged, connected and ready to create.
Important: Participants are responsible for the care and security of their own laptops, smartphones and other personal devices throughout the AI Wrangler Challenge. Natural Velocity is not responsible for any loss of, or damage to, personal devices while participating in the Challenge. - Do I need a paid AI account?
The simple answer in No.
Before Challenge Day, we’ll send you everything you need to know about which AI tools you’ll be using and anything you need to set up in advance.
- Do I need to come with a team?
Absolutely. You can join the AI Wrangler Challenge on your own or as part of a team.
Teams can include up to 3 people, so you can bring your own crew and take on the Challenge together.
If you register individually, we’ll do our best to match you with other solo AI Wranglers or an existing team, so you can still enjoy the full team experience.
Companies and larger organisations can enter multiple teams into the same Challenge, creating a fun way for colleagues to complete the same challenges, compare results and enjoy some friendly internal competition.
Team matching is subject to availability, and we’ll confirm your arrangements before Challenge Day.
Whether you arrive solo, with friends or as part of a larger company group, you’ll be ready to think, create, collaborate and have fun with AI.
- How long does the Challenge take?
The AI Wrangler Challenge is designed to be a memorable team experience in its own right, combining practical AI, problem solving, creativity, collaboration and friendly competition across Melbourne’s Docklands.
For companies and larger groups, multiple teams can take part in the same Challenge, making it ideal for team days, leadership groups, staff engagement and corporate events.
And with Christmas approaching, you can easily turn the experience into part of your end-of-year celebrations by adding lunch, dinner or drinks at one of the many restaurants and venues across Docklands before or after your Challenge.
With approximately 2,200 car parks on site and free trams stopping at The District Docklands, getting your team there is easy.
Take on the Challenge. Build capability. Have fun. And, if you want, make a day or night of it.
- What happens if I'm running late?
Because teams start at staggered times every hour, it's important that you arrive 15 minutes before your booked session.
If you arrive late, we will do our best to accommodate and get you underway ASAP.
- What happens if it rains?
The Challenge will go ahead in light-to-moderate Melbourne rain, with several activities taking place in covered or indoor locations.
If severe weather creates a safety risk, we may adjust the route, delay activities or postpone the Challenge as a last resort. Participant safety will always come first.
- Is the AI Wrangler Challenge accessible?
Yes. The Challenge is being designed to accommodate participants with mobility and other accessibility requirements.
The route will primarily use established public areas and accessible paths, and participants will not be required to use stairs to complete Challenge activities. Tasks will also be designed so accessibility requirements do not create a competitive disadvantage.
We’ll confirm any specific accessibility considerations once the final route is locked in.
If you have special needs, feel free to reach out before booking so we can tailor the experience and directions to your superpower.
