AiR 2024 Artist Talks | Robyn Jean
Event description
Robyn Jean is a Noongar/Yamatji woman, and local resident of Stirling with an extensive career in photography and visual art. Robyn’s portrait of her mother, artist Norma McDonald, received the Rotary Club of Karrinyup Local Artist Award in the City of Stirling Art Awards and Exhibition 2023.
During her residency Robyn will invite Aboriginal women from the local area and members of the wider community to participate in portrait sessions with props or fabrics of personal significance, capturing stories, identities, and connections to culture. Robyn will additionally offer a series of workshops sharing existing and emerging skills that integrate technologies available in the Innovations Lab.
This residency will culminate with an exhibition showcasing the photographic portraits, a celebration of cultural identity and storytelling at The Meeting Place.
