Book Reading & Discussion: Solidarity Across Nations, Recalling Black Armada History

To celebrate Indonesian Independence Day, the Australian-Indonesian Youth Association Victoria (AIYA VIC) and Menumbook Book Club are collaborating to hold a book reading event. The event, under the theme "Solidarity Across Nations," consists of silent reading and discussion of the Black Armada, reflecting on the history of a massive 1945–1949 maritime boycott where Australian trade unions refused to load or crew Dutch ships carrying weapons meant to re-colonize Indonesia.

Feel free to bring any book you’d like to read (it doesn’t have to fit the theme). Some snacks will be provided ☺️🙏🏼
