Event description

AIYA Victoria, in collaboration with the Krakatoas Football Club, is proud to present AIYA Victoria's Footy Week: a series of event that begin on the 24th April and culminate on the 28th April with an AFL Practice Session and social BBQ. Recognising the cultural significance of ANZAC week and the ANZAC day footy match, AIYA Victoria will pay homage by hosting a series of events and catch ups related to AFL:

  1. Wednesday April 24th, 6-7pm - AFL Culture Language Exchange: A group discussion and introduction to AFL culture - at the Kathleen Syme Library and Community Centre.
  2. Thursday 25th April, 3pm - ANZAC day match watch party - Watch party for the ANZAC day match against Collingwood and Essendon - At Beer Deluxe Fed Square.
  3. Sunday 28th April, 1:30pm-4pm - AFL Practice Session and BBQ with the Krakatoas Football Club - at Fawkner Park, South Yarra (TBC based on weather conditions)

All of these events are have been crafted to provide a social get-together for the Australia-Indonesia community in Melbourne and to showcase and introduce a quintessential part of Australian culture to those who are unaware or wanting to learn more about.

Our main event for the week, an AFL practice session and bbq, is being co-facilitated with our longstanding collaborator, the Krakatoas Football Club. The event is designed to provide a fun, social environment to learn AFL, while enjoying each other's company over some snacks and bbq. AFL Equipment, food and drinks will be provided!

Please note - our event agenda is very dependant on weather conditions, which may cause the location, provision of an outdoor BBQ or other event amenities to change. An email will be sent in the event of any changes being made.

EDIT* - Please note the new details for the ANZAC Match Watch Party above
