As we all know...the world is in constant motion and it’s time to leave that boring static design work in the past. This workshop will help you understand the world of the motion designer and why it’s just better.

Who is this workshop for?

Designers who want to expand their skill set and offering into motion.

Anyone who might be intimidated by what they don’t know about motion design and would like a peek into the moving image.

What will you learn?

• You will learn about the principles of animation and the process of bringing it to the screen. 
• A rundown of the skills and disciplines needed as a motion designer. 
• The various styles and applications of motion work and the things to consider when designing for it. 
• How to apply this knowledge to your future design practice

This half-day workshop will cover

• The combination of 3 disciplines
  (graphic design, animation, filmmaking)
• Additional disciplines that can help (Illustration, photography, visual effects, editing, programming, sound design 3D modelling, character animation, programming)

About the presenter
Shaun Madgwick is a freelance motion designer and director with 20 years of experience working with big agencies, small studios and everyone in between. He’s projected onto castles, influenced elections and even made some instagram videos.

In 2020 he founded the Motion Designers Guild of Aotearoa to build on the community’s history of sharing knowledge and expertise and to create a local network that connects, nurtures and promotes local talent.
