Damien Kingston Quartet 'Wells' - Album Launch

The Damien Kingston Quartet featuring Matt Boden on Piano, Hamish Houston on Bass and Tom Robb on drums have released their latest album 'Wells' on vinyl and will be launching the record with a live performance at the Founders Room on October 9, 2021. 

The album 'Wells' features a set of original tunes and was originally commissioned and recorded by ABC jazz. The album was subsequently put out as a vinyl pressing by Scratch Match Records and will be available for purchase on the evening. Have a listen here: https://damienkingston.bandcam...

The group will be playing material from the new album alongside some new tunes, and will be joined by the Elijah Davies Quartet and Silikill for some special sets on the night.

Entry is $35 or $15 student/concession - music starts at 7.30

Damien Kingston Quartet

The Damien Kingston Quartet is a nipaluna/Hobart ensemble dedicated to performing original composition that mixes elements of jazz, free improv, and traditional song form.  The band has been performing together since 2018 and to date have two albums out, the latest 'Wells' was released on ABC Jazz and Scratch Match Records. The band look to blend strict unison and composite texture when interpreting original composition.

Silikill

Silikill is an ensemble uniting an eclectic range of styles into a cohesive and collaborate musical and gestural language in order to explore concepts. Silikill is primarily engaged with performing original compositions and conceptual improvisations from within the group. The works themselves often stem from current personal interests, general bouts of confusion, and revelations which are are tied with a sense of playfulness and lust for autonomy.

Elijah Davies Quartet

Elijah Davies is a Tasmanian jazz guitarist currently studying a bachelor of music at the University of Tasmania. Counting Jim Hall, Charlie Christian and John Coltrane as some of his primary influences, Elijah is quickly becoming an in demand guitarist in the nipaluna/Hobart jazz scene. Elijah will be presenting his new group the Elijah Davies Quartet for their debut performance. The quartet was formally formed in 2021 with core members playing together since 2016.
