Albury Aboriginal Education Consultative Group: Community Meeting
Event description
The Albury Aboriginal Education Consultative Group (AECG) is a group designed to give a voice to Aboriginal people and communities to education organisations--the Department of Education, TAFE, universities, pre-schools--across the region.
This is our first community meeting since the new committee--Anton Trees (president), Leticia Reid (vice president), Ruth Davys (secretary), Derek Murray (treasurer), Neville Bamblett (delegate)--was elected.
We're getting together to discuss a few things:
1. Introducing the committee: what's our vision and strategy to best give a voice to community?
2. What's going well for our young people in education?
3. What needs to be better?
4. Approved providers list: how should education providers know who is able and appropriate to provide cultural support and services?
5. Meeting structures & communication processes: should meetings be divided between community & education? Where should meetings be held and when? How can we be sure community can have a say in education, and the operations of the AECG?
6. Finance report.
7. General or other business.
Snacks will be provided. Share this invite with anyone you want: all are welcome! (Only Aboriginal members aged 18 and above can vote on resolutions though).
