Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs Information and Harm Reduction Training for Community Workers in the ACT

Do you work with people who use alcohol, tobacco and other drugs? Do you want to learn more about drug trends, values and attitudes towards people who use drugs (PWUD) and need some up-to-date information to have more informed conversation with your clients?
For over ten years the Alcohol Tobacco and Other Drug Association ACT (ATODA) has hosted its popular one-day alcohol, tobacco and other drugs information and harm reduction training for community workers in the ACT.  The training has been supported by the Youth Coalition of the ACT, Mental Health Community Coalition and ACT Shelter and is facilitated by Annie Bleeker, Senior Training Specialist at ATODA.Â
The training will provide participants with improved:
- Knowledge of ATOD trends in the ACT/Australia
- Understanding of stigma and discrimination towards people who use and inject drugs
- Knowledge of ATOD and harm reduction strategies to share with your clients
- Confidence in working with people who use ATOD
- Understanding of how to respond to a drug overdoseÂ
As part of the registration fee, participants will receive a light lunch and refreshments.Â
