About Alex:
Alex Ammons is a Denver-based singer-songwriter whose work blends emotional precision and intimate vocals with unflinching lyrical honesty. A combination of new Americana and witchy folk, Ammons’ songs offer a tender and occasionally wry chronicle of love, heartbreak, and the uneasy art of trusting our particular paths. Her forthcoming album Done in Love is a vulnerable reckoning with loss.
About the album:
Done in Love is an album that explores the terrain of loss and provides the map through it. Heart-breaky, real, and occasionally a little dramatic (as heartbreak tends to be), it is a snapshot of the messy process of loving and letting go. Rooted in folk Americana with a dose of dusty western melancholy, the songs offer a soft landing for anyone who’s ever loved and lost. Done in Love features a warm ensemble of collaborators: Cassidy Bacon and Fox Drickey on backup vocals, Laura Goldhamer on banjo, Grayson Fiske on percussion, and Fox Drickey on violin.
Engineered and co-produced by Stephen Tucker over the course of three months, Done in Love carries the warmth of the fireplace Ammons huddled next to throughout the recording process. Tucker captures the quiet intimacy of being in the room with Ammons as she sings and plays through her fresh grief—crafting a sound that feels both close and expansive.
Patchwork Jack: A Pan-Americana Panacea
What ails ye o' wanderer? Whatever it may be, Patchwork Jack's got the remedy. This merry band of westerners (both north and south american) thread together such influences as Texas country, Latin ballads, and Romani swing. Their music, like an old worn-out quilt, tells tales of love, loss, resilience and the human experience. A heaping helping of honky-tonk humanity might be just what you need.
Each performance is a kaleidoscope of musical revelry, from barn burnin' hoedowns to soulful ballads, all woven together by the spirited camaraderie of the members. Patchwork Jack's onstage chemistry is as unpredictable as their lineup, promising an exhilarating ride through the ever-evolving landscape of Pan-Americana fusion that defies expectation and invites you to join their jubilant cowboy carnival.
