Brisbane Classical Guitar is delighted to present world renowned concert artist, Alex Tsiboulski, live in concert.
Praised for his 'responsive virtuosity' (The Age, Melbourne) and 'sensuous intensity' (Classical Guitar, UK), Tsiboulski’s playing has been heard on concert stages worldwide and has garnered first prizes in twelve international guitar competitions. He was a three-time finalist in the Guitar Foundation of America International Concert Artist Competition, and winner of three special prizes at the Havana International Guitar Competition. A first-prize win at the 2006 Tokyo International Guitar Competition was followed by an extensive Japan-wide tour.
He was the Australian-American Fulbright Scholar in the Visual and Performing Art, and is the recipient of numerous scholarships, awards and honours from around the world.
For five years he remotely taught students at the Afghanistan National Institute of Music before its evacuation in 2021. In the past three years, Alex has given some twenty solo and collaborative concerts and a dozen masterclasses in his native Ukraine.
His two Naxos solo releases received five-star reviews in The Australian, and the album Australian Guitar Music was nominated for an ARIA Best Classical Album.
His formative teachers included Eduardo Fernandez, Adam Holzman, Ernesto Bitetti and Timothy Kain. He holds a B.Mus (Hons) from the Australian National University, and a Masters in Music from the University of Texas at Austin.
Having previously taught at Sydney Conservatorium and the University of Melbourne, Tsiboulski currently splits his time between his home near Melbourne and Europe, performing and teaching in person and through dedicated online classes and workshops on guitar performance, history, technique and repertoire.
Program to include traditional works by Bach, Barrios and Villa-Lobos, as well as newer works by Anne Cawrse, Horacio Uribe and Ade Vincent. A concert not to be missed!
