Event description
Renowned for his work as Dirty Beaches, Love Theme and his expansive improvisation practice, Saxophonist-composer Alex Zhang Hungtai’s solo music excursions straddle avant-free jazz, mystical expressionism and the sublimely vulnerable, intertwining saxophone, synthesis and percussion. Responding to space and time, Hungtai creates spontaneous improvised music of ritualistic sounds for liminal spaces.
For this performance Alex Zhang Hungtai will perform within MATRIA– an ephemeral installation that transforms space through a single, vibrant colour. Sound and structure resonate in unison, as Hungtai bends the boundaries of sound in dialogue with architecture. You are invited to enter, dwell, and surrender to the inimitable genius of Alex Zhang Hungtai, for a deeply transformative encounter with the unseen forces that move us all.
