Alexandra Shrinivas (band -Mark Russell guitar, Ewa Adamiec-sitar )
Alexandra Shrinivas is a multi disciplined instrumentalist and singer. She began her career as a classical musician and during the pandemic returned to writing her own music and poetry. Her songs are experimental and ambient, influenced by her love of contemporary classical, jazz, pop, and folk music. Her most recent exploration has been through taking lessons in Hindustani singing and harmonium, and weaving these sounds with her scots and western classical influences on her vocals and violin. The themes and stories round her work explore her feelings about belonging and are centred round representing her mixed roots. Her song ‘A Woman and Her World’ was released in 2022 and commissioned by Powa Scotland, she supported Campbell and Jenson on their world tour in 2022 and artist sheherazaad on her European tour in 1025. Her debut single ‘Luna’ was released In 2023 and she is now looking forward to releasing new music in the coming months.
